UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin 2Forrest Griffin successfully avenged his split decision loss against Tito Ortiz at UFC 59: Reality Check with another split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28) on the main event of UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin II earlier at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Meanwhile, Josh Koscheck defeated Anthony Johnson via rear naked choke submission at the 4:47 mark of the second round of their welterweight match.

Preliminary Card

  • Lightweight bout: George Sotiropoulos defeated Jason Dent via armbar submission at 4:36 of round number 2.
  • Lightweight bout: Caol Uno and Fabricio Camoes fought to a majority draw after three rounds. The judges scored the fight 29-27 (Uno), 28-28 and 28-28.
  • Welterweight bout: Brian Foster defeated Brock Larson via Technical Knock Out at 3:25 of the second round.
  • Middleweight bout: Kendall Grove defeated Jake Rosholt via triangle choke submission at 3:59 of the opening round.
  • Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders knocked out Marcus Davis at the 3:24 mark of the first round.

Main Card

  • Welterweight bout: Amir Sadollah defeated Phil Baroni via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).
  • Light Heavyweight bout: Antonio Rogerio Nogueira defeated Luiz Cane via Technical Knock Out at 1:58 in round number 1.
  • Welterweight bout: Paulo Thiago defeated Jacob Volkmann via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).
  • Welterweight bout: Josh Koscheck won over Anthony Johnson via rear naked choke submission at 4:47 in round number 2.
  • Light Heavyweight bout: Forrest Griffin defeated Tito Ortiz via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 29-28).

The bout between Josh Koscheck and Anthony Johnson was named as Fight of the Night, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira’s TKO win against Luiz Cane won the Knockout of the Night award while Josh Koscheck rear naked choke submission against Anthony Johnson bagged the Submission of the Night prize.

UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez is scheduled on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.
